Far From The Madding Crowd Book/Movie Review

               It is Thomas Hardy's 4th novel & his1st major success.The novel is set in Hardy's fictonal county of"Wessex"in rural south West England.# It deals with the theme of LOVE,HONOUR & BETRAYAL.*It describes the farmer Bathsheba Everdene,her life & relationships-especially with her lonely neighbour William Boldwood,the faithful shepherd Gabriel Oak & the thriftless soldier Sergen.    

                   

               My favourite character in this novel is Gabriel Oak,who is Bathsheba's 1st suitor bcz he seems really genuine & humble.He also know how to react to certain things & he has a heart.

                

             I hv also seen that Bathsheba is an educated,light hearted,beautiful,headstrong & too much independent female with a desire to conquer the world.I must say that l like her immediately.when we watch the movie we really get to know who she is!

                  Bathsheba inherits her uncle's estate  &she handled it single handed.~This was rare for a woman to do it.In Victorian era,women were typically wives & mothers.Very few professions held by women.It was unusual for a woman to run an estate as Bathsheba does in the novel.
